The aim of this work is the synthesis of a network of railway infrastructure for a given input of traffic demand and some quality parameter. This problem can be modelled as a special kind of multi-commodity flow problem and by some changes stated as a linear program. The transformation to a linear program yields to a large set of variables which avoids the efficient solution of the problem. This can be overcome by using a column generation algorithm.
