Optimization of Railway-networks

The background of this talk is the motivation to optimize the capacitive load in the field of railway operation research. Especially there are approaches of the strategic network planning in the field of the (German) Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan. A plan like this is a comprehensive compilation of the German government for investments in the infrastructure for several carriers of traffic. Main topics are generation and restraint of traffic or a detection of bottlenecks. This talk is going to provide an approach for an optimization in railway-networks. For this approach the capacity for each railway line and each railway node is going to be used as an input variable. A state of needed capacity depends on the mix ratio of train runs on each infrastructure segment. Due to a rerouting of trains towards the optimization, the (new) mix ratio of trains must be checked.
